Homework

Children will be given a 'Pick and Mix' homework each term which will be related to our current topics. They should choose and complete at least one activity. If they have other ideas which are not on the sheet, we welcome their creativity and look forward to hearing/seeing these. Completed homework will be shared and celebrated in person or via Dojo at the end of each term.

Reading

All children will have a school reading book and reading record to take home. Please try to read with your child regularly, even if your child is a fluent reader. You can support them by asking questions to deepen their understanding of the text. Please make comments about their reading in their reading records (if possible, four times a week). Children will also be read with in school by their class teacher or a teaching assistant weekly or fortnightly, so we ask that their book and reading record brought into school every day. We appreciate your support with helping your child develop their reading skills.

Spellings

Spelling tasks are looked at in class on Mondays and Tuesdays. Children will then need to complete these tasks at home by the following Monday ready to receive their new ones. Spelling books therefore need to be brought into school every Monday and Tuesday.

Times Tables Rock Stars

All children have a login for Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) stuck in their reading record. Children can use this site to develop their times tables skills. This is particularly important for Year 4 children as they will complete a Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June 2025.

PE Days

Our PE days are usually Mondays and Wednesdays, but may vary due to school events. Please make sure all PE clothes and kit bags are named clearly. For safety in PE lessons, long hair must be tied back and children need to remove any earrings. If your child cannot remove their earrings by themselves, please provide tape to cover them with.

Equipment

We politely request that children do not bring pencil cases into school as the children will be provided with everything they need. Children may bring a water bottle to school to keep in a tray at the back of our classroom. A 'sports top' style is preferred for ease and to avoid spillages.

Contact us

Please send any questions or queries via Dojo, or ask at drop off/home time.

We look forward to working with you and your children over the course of the year.

Miss North and Mrs Cook.
